fibromyalgia support in the east midlands: gentle somatics, restorative yoga and acupuncture pilot project

At How We Heal CIC, we know that recovery isn’t one-size-fits-all. Many people live each day with fibromyalgia and chronic pain — conditions that can feel overwhelming, exhausting, and isolating. Medication and standard treatments can help, but so many people tell us they are still searching for gentle, supportive ways to manage pain, improve sleep, and rebuild their wellbeing.

That’s why we are developing a brand-new community project in collaboration with Cycles of Change Integrative Medicine: a pilot programme combining trauma-informed gentle somatic movement, restorative yoga and acupuncture. This unique approach brings together body-based practices and therapeutic support to help reduce pain, ease anxiety, improve sleep, and support emotional resilience.

That’s why we are developing a brand-new community pilot project in the East Midlands: a programme combining trauma-informed yoga, somatic movement, and restorative yoga with acupuncture. This unique approach brings together body-based practices and therapeutic support to help reduce pain, ease anxiety, improve sleep, and support emotional resilience. It’s designed to be safe, accessible, and supportive for people living with fibromyalgia.

Our first pilot project will be for women, but our aim is to extend it in the future so that men living with fibromyalgia and chronic pain can also benefit.

But before we can launch, we need your input. Funders want to see that projects are shaped with the people they serve — and honestly, we want that too. Your lived experience matters. We want you to have your voice heard - we want to understand better what would support you and what the barriers are that you face to accessing support.

We’ve created a short, anonymous survey (just 5 minutes) where you can share your thoughts on what would help, what gets in the way of joining groups, and whether this type of fibromylagia support project could benefit you. Please feel welcome to also share with anyone you know who is living with fibromaylgia.

By taking part, you’ll be helping us secure funding and design a fibromyalgia support project in the East Midlands that offers safe, holistic options beyond medication.

With gratitude,

The How We Heal CIC team
